The FSCJ Volleyball program wrapped up its spring indoor season with a commanding 3-1 record, proving the roster's depth and competitive abilities.
The Manta Rays made an early statement in March, traveling south to secure back-to-back wins over South Florida State College and a high-caliber Division I opponent, Polk State. They maintained that intensity through their final matches, splitting this past weekend with another victory over South Florida State and a hard-fought, three-set battle against Division I Cleveland State.
The Sand-to-Court Edge
The secret to the team's conditioning lies in their dual-sport discipline. With all but three players also competing in our beach program, the transition from sand to hardwood has fostered a unique athletic advantage. The physical demands of beach play—agility, verticality, and communication—translated directly to indoor success, strengthening team cohesion across both surfaces.
Coach Hinck says, "The team played with intensity this past weekend. After a spring season packed with crossover training, including detailed lifts for both indoor and beach movements, split practices on the sand and hardwood, and programs to keep our bodies strong and healthy across both surfaces, they proved what it takes to compete at this level against conference opponents and Division I programs. Ending the spring season in The Reef, they leave with a sense of accomplishment and a strong foundation for what's ahead."
Looking Forward
This spring serves as a passing of the torch. While the program celebrates nine graduating sophomores this May, the foundation remains rock-solid. A talented core of returning freshmen is poised to carry this momentum into the fall, positioning FSCJ for sustained success in both its indoor and beach programs.
